Wendy and I had a magical time in México, where we facilitated a beautiful Medicine Circle workshop in the sacred land of Malinalco and experienced the celebration of the approaching Day of the Dead, also known in México as Día de Muertos. I was fascinated by the colors, the celebration, and the honoring of those who have passed before us—our ancestors, our loved ones. What was exceptional was that the celebrations of marriages, of spirit, of different sections and communities, paraded down the same street. It felt like the honoring of love, death, and community celebrated in costumes, dance, and music side by side. I am happy to bring this magic and inspiration home as I settle in the Bay Area for the rest of the year. I'm looking forward to leading Sweat Your Prayers at the MLK gym in Sausalito this Sunday, November 2nd, to celebrate this magical day. My friend and colleague Sapana Doshi will be honoring this day with a Merge and Emerge BIPOC class on Saturday, November 1, in Oakland. Steffi Paepcke will also be holding space this Sunday with a 5Rhythms in Redwood City. I will be back leading a Sweat Your Prayers class on Saturday, November 8, at the Hidden Ballroom in Pt. Richmond. These practices remind us that our ancestors still dance with us. We are never alone in our movement—we carry the wisdom of those who came before, and in honoring them, we honor the sacred continuity of life itself. Con amor y gratitud, Sylvie Minot You are the fairytale told by your ancestors. Comments are closed.
