Experience Open Floor Dance with Kamla Sufi. In Open Floor, we celebrate the dance of letting go, finding balance, and renewal as September moves us closer into autumn's embrace. We honor the cycles that flow through us—the expansion and contraction, the gathering and releasing, the balance that emerges when we surrender to authentic movement. Together, as a community, we'll dance at this threshold of seasonal change, allowing our bodies to mirror nature's own graceful transitions. Please note: For Saturday, September 13th, Kamla Sufi is offering an Open Floor class as a substitute while Sylvie travels to New York to facilitate a Heartbeat Workshop. Open Floor Movement Practice Open Floor is "a lively meditation practice that builds muscular and emotional intelligence. It is a dance floor discovery zone where we move and include: good days and tough ones. There are no steps to learn and no way to do it wrong. Kamla Sufi brings a diverse range of music from various parts of the world, featuring everything from strong rhythms to luxurious melodies and an abundance of joy! This practice welcomes every body: all ages, body types, abilities, and mobilities. Whether you're seeking connection, awareness, meditation, freedom, expression, exploration, sweat, or fun, you'll find a space of complete acceptance on the Open Floor. You can work up the biggest sweat or rest in the music—or do both. There's no choreography to follow; you simply experiment with movement and breath, allowing the music to guide you through your very own dance. Come sweat, smile, and move freely as we go from being self-conscious to simply being conscious of self. Your heartbeat is rhythm enough—everything else will unfold naturally. Reserve Your Spot To save your spot, we encourage you to register in advance, as space is limited. Early registration also supports our event volunteers, helping them greet and check in participants with ease. Join us in the heart of Point Richmond, at Hidden City Ballroom, for a morning of movement, connection, and heart-centered celebration. We look forward to dancing with you. ABOUT KAMLA SUFI Kamla Sufi is a Somatic Success Coach, Educator, and Embodied Movement Facilitator whose name means "Water Lotus" in Punjabi—fittingly, as the water lotus has become a global symbol for yoga, a practice she has been honored to teach since 2005. Her work is rooted in helping people reconnect to their natural resilience, joy, and power through mindfulness and movement. With a Master's Degree in Education earned in 1995, Kamla spent 15 years as an administrator in California's public schools, where her office became a revolving door of families in crisis. This experience of countless meetings with too little time and too few resources led her to found Somatic Success Coaching in 2010, blending personal coaching with embodied practices.
