This Saturday marks both the summer solstice—the longest day of the year—and National Indigenous Peoples Day, when First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities celebrate their enduring cultures, languages, and sacred traditions. For generations, Indigenous peoples have understood the solstice as a powerful moment of renewal, when the earth tilts closest to the sun and we’re reminded of our deep connection to natural cycles—and to each other. The summer solstice is a time of growth and new beginnings. It invites us to start something fresh to nourish the soul. BIPOC Dance with Sylvie on Saturday I am back and facilitating our BIPOC Sweat Your Prayers class this Saturday in Oakland, creating sacred space for bodies of color and spirits that carry ancestral wisdom. Whether or not you're able to join us in person, we invite you to honor the solstice in your own way—by stepping outside to feel the year’s longest light on your skin, by moving your body in gratitude, or by reflecting on the Indigenous teachers and land protectors who continue to guide us toward deeper connection with the earth and each other. As we continue celebrating Pride Month, we will continue to advocate for our collective freedom, our humanity, and our right to be ourselves. BIPOC Sweat Your Prayers with Sylvie Minot Saturday, June 21, 2025, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm Interplay Studio at 2273 Telegraph Ave., Oakland NO PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED - PAY AT THE DOOR Let us dance in solidarity with Indigenous wisdom-keepers and celebrate the resilient communities that continue to rise, move, and create beauty across the world. Peninsula Dance on Sunday Just a reminder that we've launched weekly Peninsula Sweat Your Prayers every Sunday in Redwood City, featuring rotating 5Rhythms teachers Sylvie, Tom Truman, Tess Howell, and Steffi Paepcke. We will continue dancing for ourselves, each other, and the bigger whole. We are forming a very sweet group as we create this space together. This week, 5Rhythms teacher Tina Marinic will be holding space. We welcome all bodies and experience levels. Please support us by taking a class or sharing this with those who might be interested.
