The July flower, the water lilies, embody rebirth and enlightenment, rising from muddy waters to bloom immaculately on the surface. These sacred flowers symbolize the journey from darkness to light, representing our capacity to emerge transformed from the depths, or “muddiness” of life. I always come out of a dance class different than how I went in. I am constantly amazed by the transformational power of dance. Like the water lily that emerges from muddy waters, let’s rise up for ourselves, for each other, and humanity. I invite you to join us this weekend. Kamla Sufi will be teaching in Oakland on Saturday, and I will be teaching in Redwood City on Sunday. This Sunday, I will do a full wave with only 15 minutes of warm-up. I’d like us to have enough time to be in each of the rhythms.
