As I prepare to leave for a brief vacation in Hawaii to celebrate my birthday, I am excited to be in the powerful presence of Pele, whose home is believed to be Halemaumau crater at the summit of Kilauea as she watches over the island. I feel very connected to this volcano Goddess. She represents new life; her passion and power touch me deeply. As I travel, I am welcomed by many dance communities. I’m constantly inspired by the generosity and support that flows within our communities, especially when dancers open their homes to welcome fellow dancers traveling for workshops or events. This spirit of hospitality reflects our synergic practice, as we create a sense of belonging no matter where or with whom we are dancing. If you live in Marin County and feel inspired to host dancers from out of town, please contact us at [email protected]. When I return, I look forward to bringing some of Pele’s essence, the tropical breeze, and the aloha spirit back to the dance floor.
