5RHYTHMS SWEAT YOUR PRAYERS IN REDWOOD CITY
Are you ready to awaken the dancer within? — Every Sunday in San Mateo County
Only a 25-minute drive from San Francisco and San Jose, located in the heart of Silicon Valley!
Producers Dora Yung and Sylvie Minot, along with a group of brilliant 5Rhythms facilitators, invite you to step into the healing rhythm of your body, heart, and soul through 5Rhythms® moving meditation known as Sweat Your Prayers.
5Rhythms® founder, Gabrielle Roth, started "Sweat Your Prayers" movement classes to explore movement as a spiritual practice and to connect with the body's inherent wisdom.
She believed that movement could unlock inner wisdom, healing, and spiritual growth, viewing the body as a "direct path" to accessing these qualities.
This is a 5Rhythms® movement meditation practice. We offer a safe and supportive space for you to move through and with what is present. Guided by brilliant 5Rhythms® teachers on rotation, this immersive experience offers a chance to deepen your connection to body, heart, and spirit.
MOVE, CONNECT AND BE
COME AS YOU ARE
COME AS YOU ARE
“To sweat is to pray, to make an offering of your innermost self. Sweat is holy water, prayer beads, pearls of liquid that release your past. Sweat is an ancient and universal form of self healing, whether done in the gym, the sauna, or the sweat lodge. I do it on the dance floor. The more you dance, the more you sweat. The more you sweat, the more you pray. The more you pray, the closer you come to ecstasy.”

Over time, you’ll find the wisdom from the dance floor ripples into your everyday life.
What Is 5Rhythms Sweat Your Prayers?
5Rhythms® is a movement meditation created by Gabrielle Roth that invites every body to awaken through five dynamic rhythms — Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. Together, they form The Wave — a journey through energy and expression that releases, restores, and reconnects.
The 5Rhythms:
- Flowing – Flowing connects you to your inner truth through grounded, continuous movement.
- Staccato – Staccato invites bold, clear expression through purposeful, percussive motion.
- Chaos – Chaos frees the body and mind by letting go of control and surrendering to movement.
- Lyrical – Lyrical brings lightness and creativity, allowing joyful, spontaneous expression.
- Stillness – Stillness slows you down to move with breath and presence, integrating your journey.
What is a 5Rhythms Sweat Your Prayers Class Like?
What is a 5Rhythms Sweat Your Prayers Class Like?
In a 5Rhythms class, there are no steps to follow. You move as the music moves you. You can dance fast or slow, big or small. You are guided through the music with soft instructions for breath and to focus on being in your body. Sometimes, the teacher will invite you to dance near another participant to deepen your dance experience.
However, it is always your choice to dance by yourself or with others. This is true whether you are in an in-person class or a virtual class where you decide to activate your device camera or not. The 5Rhythms practice is intended to go beyond merely dancing to music. Your movement becomes therapeutic, a type of meditation, and a representation of your emotional state. During class, you practice awareness of your body's physical sensations and the feelings that coincide with your movements.
As you continue to move, you allow your attention to pass through your mind. Through this process, feelings are released, and equilibrium returns to the mind and body. Each class ends with a gentle breathing practice to further ground the mind and body. This process of releasing any stuck emotional energy held within your mind and body can help shift your life in a new direction.
