What is Shamanic Journeying & Movement?
Shamanic journeying bridges humans to the worlds beyond the five senses, allowing us to recover messages, knowledge, and wisdom from our guardian spirits and ancestral allies. During this individual and communal process, we will dance, journey with the drum, and embody our guidance through movement. We will put the group's messages into motion by creating embodied tableaux.
Throughout the series, we will honor the worlds of the soul, the animals, the land, and the ancestors' spirits.
For over 15 years, I have been leading Medicine Circle with Wendy Heffner, co-founder of Syzygy Dance Project. During the pandemic, I found a different way to connect through the spirit world and started a series called Shamanic Journeying and Movement over Zoom.
The journeys have been very profound during this time of unrest, when we need to connect with our guardian spirits and ancestral allies more than ever. The journeys have been revealing and healing. Participants were not just journeying for themselves, but also for each other and the world.
Now it is time for us to come together once again and experience this incredible journey.
This workshop is a ceremony to invite the subconscious and spirit world to assist us. It is not affiliated with any religious practice. It is amazing to ride the drumbeat and connect to others during this journey, even through Zoom. We tap into another realm together, and we connect in a way that goes beyond just looking at each other.
The journey begins with 20 minutes of movement, followed by a time to come together and set our intention. We'll close the Zoom room, and the drumming journey will start. We conclude with 15–20 minutes of movement to embody the journey and the medicine you've come back with. From there, we dance each other's journeys, followed by a little time to share afterward. These sessions are 2 hours. Spirit has its own timing, so I like to have flexibility for the end time.

Instructor – Sylvie Minot
Sylvie Minot is the founder and executive director of Syzygy Dance Project and has taught 5Rhythms classes since 2000 across the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Europe, and Australia. She has worked with diverse groups, including healthcare workers, veterans, at-risk youth, and the elderly.
She holds a BA in Dance from San Jose State University and a Master’s in Theology, Spirituality, and Holistic Health. A certified 5Rhythms and Heartbeat teacher, she integrates studies in psychology, indigenous healing, energy medicine, and sound healing.
Known as a catalytic “shape-shifter,” Sylvie meets people where they are and guides them toward new possibilities.
