GIVE THE GIFT OF DANCE
Bring healing movement to those who need it most!
Syzygy Dance Project brings the transformative power of dance to diverse communities including veterans, inmates, recovering addicts, youths, people living with chronic illness, and the elderly.
In the past nine years, we have served over 5,000 people in the San Francisco Bay Area and are expanding our reach through Syzygy Dance Project facilitator trainings, enabling others to bring this work into their communities.
SDP is dedicated to helping people overcome physical, mental, and emotional challenges by connecting mind, body, and spirit through the power of movement. The individuals in these populations in particular face significant life challenges including poverty, substance abuse, homelessness, stigma, chronic illness, physical trauma and/or mental health issues.
Using creative movement exercises, participants learn how to utilize their body as a resource to release stress, anxiety, and/or depression, deal with challenging personal situations, and create space for joy, fun, and healthier behaviors. We've repeatedly witnessed how movement can transcend age, race, ethnicity and gender, allowing us to more readily face challenges, increase self-acceptance, and unify and uplift us all.
