SACRED MEDICINE CIRCLE

What is Medicine Circle?

Circles have been used by many indigenous cultures throughout time as a place for ceremony and transformation. Medicine Circle weaves ritual, community, movement, sounds and prayer allowing us to reconnect with Spirit.

SDP Founders Sylvie Minot and Wendy Heffner have offered this powerful work in California, Arizona, Washington, Mexico, and Australia.

In Medicine Circle, you dance, and the circle holds the big, small, quiet, loud, joyful, still, cathartic, and everything-in-between dances. We use sound--drums, rattles, bells, rain sticks, and song--to call Spirit back in.

We pray, for ourselves, for others and for the greater whole. Dance and presence are our offerings. Being together in this sacred way is our medicine.

Private Sessions

We offer semi-private Medicine Circles for you and your selected group of dancers.

This is a perfect opportunity to explore the Medicine Circle work in a more intimate setting with people you most likely feel connected to and more comfortable.

If you are interested in having a session with a group, please contact Sylvie at

Medicine Circle Testimonials

“Being a part of medicine circle has been a unique and profound healing experience… From quiet stillness to roaring chaos, I feel met at every stage. Witnessing me with her gentle fierceness, she is a greatly attuned guide, assisting me through the journey… Although each circle is completely unique, I feel as though I’ve done this hundreds of times, feeling the ancient roots of our ancestors carrying us. This work is remarkably special.”
– Cherie, MFT

“Sylvie is an instrument of sound and dance, facilitating a sacred space for the co-creation of healing. The music is an essential part of medicine circle. Whilst we are moving together, we are also making the rhythms to which we are dancing. There is the ea
rth mothers heart beating, in the grounding pulse of the drums, the breathing winds of the flutes, the bone penetrating rhythms of the rattle, and the angelic chorus of our voices. Throughout time and space, our ancestors have come together to heal, grieve, and pray in this way. As a musician and a healer, I have never known a space like medicine circle where these ancient ways are honored and continued with such integrity and creativity.“ – Lauren, Musician and Healer

“Most of what happens in a circle is beyond the verbal realm, and often afterwards all I know is that I feel an expansion in my heart, body, mind, and spirit. There is a powerful, embodied connection that occurs among the group, uniting us as a collection of people not only desiring healing for ourselves, but for all beings.”

– Julia, Massage Therapist and Dancer

Upcoming Medicine Circle Workshops

At this time, we are unable to hold in-person Medicine Circle workshops due to COVID-19 transmission risks and social distancing requirements.

We hope to resume in-person events as soon as it is deemed safe for everyone.

In the meantime, we are holding 5RHythms classes via Zoom every Wednesday evening. We'd love for you to join us. For more information about our virtual dance class, please visit the SDP blog here.
Workshop Cancellation Policy: There is a $50 cancellation fee up to a week before the workshop, 50% of full price less than a week before (unless we fill your spot), and no refund within 48 hours.
