ISMETA
Syzygy Dance Project is a member of ISMETA to promote Somatic Movement Education and Therapy.
The International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA) is an association of professionals dedicated to enhancing the body-mind integration through movement awareness.
ISMETA encompasses distinct disciplines each with their own educational or therapeutic emphasis, principles, methods and techniques.
As a registered Somatic Movement Practitioner, Syzygy Dance Project co-founder Sylvie Minot has completed extensive training in ISMETA Approved Training Programs.
The knowledge of anatomy with combinations of movement, sound, breath, touch and imagery is used to deepen participants' understanding of themselves through movement.
Somatic Movement Practitioners work with the body but acknowledge that movement affects the dimensions of psyche and spirit as well. As a result, the practice facilitates improved vitality and performance, expanded creative expression and integrated personal transformation in peoples’ daily lives.
ISMETA Events
Sylvie Minot was invited to present at the 2021 ISMETA online conference entitled, Engaging Embodiment: Somatic Applications for Health, Education & Social Justice from March 3rd - 7th, 2021.
The conference was organized by ISMETA and brought together more than 80 of the World’s Leading Somatic Movement Professionals to share how their work in Somatic Movement impacts Health, Education and Social Justice.
Attendees participated through in-depth embodied experiences, panel discussions and roundtable conversations.
This annual conference is an excellent source of information and growth for both existing professionals as well as those who are just creating and forming their own somatic paths.
Those who attended this 2021 conference were given complete access to all presentation recordings for the rest of 2021.
