Dancing Into Autumn's Darkness
October carries us into the season when the veil between the worlds grows thin, when the seen and unseen can connect, and when those who have transitioned feel near.
This is a time to honor our ancestors and the coming darkness, and to feel the mysteries that surround us all.
In our movement practice, we can meet this connection with the other side through the element of fire. Like a candle on an altar or a flame inside a carved pumpkin, fire can illuminate. It helps us accept that darkness is a part of light.
When we move with Sweat Your Prayers, we offer our intention through movement, tending the light at our core to help us see through times of darkness, when our own path does not seem clear.
5Rhythms Sweat Your Prayers™
Sweat Your Prayers™ is not just a dance practice; it's a sacred journey into the depths of our being, guided by the wisdom of movement and the power of intention. Created by 5Rhythms founder Gabrielle Roth, this movement practice invites us to explore the divine within ourselves and the world around us.
In Sweat Your Prayers™, we move with the music, surrendering to the rhythm of our breath and the beat of our hearts. Through this embodied prayer, we awaken our cardiovascular system and open our hearts to the divine. Each movement becomes a celebration of life, each breath a reminder of our vitality and our connection to the eternal dance of existence.
This practice is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or experience level. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or stepping onto the dance floor for the first time, you'll find a welcoming and inclusive space to explore and express yourself authentically. There are no steps to follow, no right or wrong way to move; let your body lead the way and trust in the wisdom of your own heart's rhythm.
Guided by Sylvie Minot's gentle presence, we'll dance in silence, allowing the music to speak to our souls and guide us on our liberating journey of honoring all that moves through us—the living and the remembered, the joy and the sorrow, the sacred wholeness of being human.
