![]() In Tibetan Buddhism, a lion-faced dakini is a divine deity depicted as a female personification of enlightened energy. The Simhavaktra Dakini is known as a female "sky-walker," a powerful essence able to help remove spiritual obstacles. January 28th will be the first full moon of 2021, in Leo, the lion. Leo moon energy ignites passion, creativity, and excitement. Tapping into this fiery source propels forward movement, sparks creativity, and brings awareness to your own powerful essence and its place in the world. Suddenly, the intention of your actions reverberates powerfully with Mother Earth and your place upon her. It's the vibration of the lion’s roar. I invite you to dance with the Leo moon--to roar with your tenacious being. Acknowledge your inner courage through your breathing. Feel the strength available to you as you move your body with your breath. Embody the lion or lioness within you to step beyond your perceived limitations. For you are being called to lend your powerful energies to what is just and free in the world. Live like the roar in the cave of the lion's throat. Live like the mustard seed dropped into hot oil--ready to explode its flavor into everything. Like the wick in a candle. Flickering. Fierce. Alive. - Pavithra Mehta With love, Sylvie and the SDP Team PS. No dance experience needed! Beginners are always welcome. Come join us! ABOUT SYLVIE MINOT'S 5RHYTHMS CLASS![]() 5Rhythms is a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in every body regardless of shape, size, age, or experience. While the dance itself is simple, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression. The primary teaching of this work is: If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself. The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. They come together to create a wave. There are no dance steps to follow. Each rhythm has a different energy and tempo in which you tap into the wisdom of your body, bring awareness to the patterns in yourself and your life, and find your individual expression. In Sylvie Minot’s weekly online 5Rhythms class, you will be led on a journey of self-discovery as we come together in community. The class is made up of two waves. The first wave is your time to arrive, let go of your day and settle into your body. During the second wave, we dance more deeply and explore a specific theme. Any level of fitness, agility and ages are invited to participate. All are welcome and no prior dance training or ability is required. Please note -- for the virtual 5Rhythms class, you don't have to connect via video--you can choose to call in or join by audio only and listen to the class through a headset. Some dancers enjoy going for a walk outdoors while they move to the music.
