The Oxford Dictionary defines courage as “Strength in the face of pain or grief.” The word's origin in Middle English is 'denoting the heart' (as the seat of feelings). Finding inner strength is the foundation of resiliency and embracing a courageous spirit. During this period of unfathomable uncertainty--the ongoing pandemic and its economic impact, the fight for racial justice, and the struggle to make all votes count--self-love and self-care is a much-needed practice for navigating such tumultuous days. The end of life is as unavoidable as the sun rising in the east, still, many of us live our lives ignoring this certainty until an event like the corona-virus outbreak, or the passing of a loved one, reminds us of our own mortality. |
