The Oxford Dictionary defines courage as “Strength in the face of pain or grief.” The word's origin in Middle English is 'denoting the heart' (as the seat of feelings). Finding inner strength is the foundation of resiliency and embracing a courageous spirit. Courage cannot be mastered through reading books or only a desire to 'be strong'; bravery requires a transformative event. When we dance, we can experience a shift that opens the heart to a sense of connection with oneself, spirit, and a world beyond fear. How do you BE with your fear and do it anyway? While you cannot escape feeling fearful, you can recognize it as a signal to move from the spirit of darkness into the light. Through dance, a connection is made with the body’s energetic flow where you move into that unconquerable fearless essence residing within your heart. Courage opens the door to let fear out. The more you move your body, the more your energy shifts from feelings of unease to divine strength. Know how much courage it takes to live in the middle of what you may be going through right now, and the courage it takes to show up each day in a new way. Let’s dance with that courage and embody it down into our cells. Join us for our weekly Wednesday 5Rhythms class on Zoom from 7:30 - 9:00 pm PST, where we will dance to move from fear into courage and gain a deeper awareness of the resilience that exists within us all. With love, Sylvie and the SDP Team PS. No dance experience needed! Beginners are always welcome! ABOUT SYLVIE MINOT'S 5RHYTHMS CLASS5Rhythms is a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in everybody regardless of shape, size, age, or experience. While the dance itself is simple, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression. The primary teaching of this work is: If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself. The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. They come together to create a wave. There are no dance steps to follow. Each rhythm has a different energy and tempo in which we tap into the wisdom of our bodies, bring awareness to the patterns in ourselves and our lives, and find our own individual expression. In Sylvie Minot’s weekly online class, you will be led on a journey of self-discovery as we gather in community. The class is made up of two waves. The first wave is your time to arrive, let go of your day and settle into your body. During the second wave, we dance more deeply and explore a specific theme. Any level of fitness, agility and ages are invited to participate. All are welcome and no prior dance training or ability is required.
