We begin this week with GivingTuesday today, formed as a simple idea in 2012 to encourage generosity. As we turn inward into gratitude, we feel humbled by the support we have received thus far. It is inspiring to see who shares our passion for bringing dance to people who need it most. "Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity...it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." —Melody Beattie Last week, Syzygy Dance Project's 6-week 5Rhythms Ancestors series came to an end. Sylvie interweaved dance with participant's Ancestral lineages through tribes, animal clans, and lands--such powerful and timely work made omnipotent during November's Native American Heritage Month. Poet and activist Oak Chezar wrote that we are pieces of ancient Earth, bits of sacred story soaked in intellect and dirt. Día de Los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, is celebrated from November 1 to November 2. Dia De Los Muertos is a two day festivity joining together the living with those who have passed. How appropriate it is that the Syzygy Dance Project Ancestors series 5Rhythms classes featured Ancestors work during this time of the year? |
