During this period of unfathomable uncertainty--the ongoing pandemic and its economic impact, the fight for racial justice, and the struggle to make all votes count--self-love and self-care is a much-needed practice for navigating such tumultuous days. According to author Elizabeth Gullino, August's new moon in Leo symbolizes the perfect time to work with self-reflection and self-love. This "dark moon" in Leo represents the birth of a new cycle--an opportunity to shift your focus away from the disturbances in the world to care for yourself and begin anew. What does self-love mean to you? And how can you be selfless in your self-loving practice? Let us begin this new moon cycle by acknowledging the miracle of who you are in this world, the values that you bring, and your sacred place in it. Can you embody it from the tip of your head to the tip of your toes? In this week's dance, we'll soothe the guarded spaces within ourselves that need restorative breath, divine nurturing, and self-love. We'll let our inner Leo shine and dance with our loving intentions into the next lunar cycle. With each self-loving act, we infuse the world with selfless love. Join us for our weekly Wednesday 5Rhythms class on Zoom from 7:30 - 9:00 pm PST, where we will dance to embody self-love under the New Moon. . With love, Sylvie and the SDP Team PS. ABOUT SYLVIE MINOT'S 5RHYTHMS CLASS5Rhythms is a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in everybody regardless of shape, size, age, or experience. While the dance itself is simple, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression. The primary teaching of this work is: If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself. The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. They come together to create a wave. There are no dance steps to follow. Each rhythm has a different energy and tempo in which we tap into the wisdom of our bodies, bring awareness to the patterns in ourselves and our lives, and find our own individual expression. In Sylvie Minot’s weekly online class, you will be led on a journey of self-discovery as we come together in community. The class is made up of two waves. The first wave is your time to arrive, let go of your day and settle into your body. During the second wave, we dance more deeply and explore a specific theme. Any level of fitness, agility and ages are invited to participate. All are welcome and no prior dance training or ability is required. About Sylvie Minot Sylvie Minot received her BA in Dance from San Jose State University and is a certified 5Rhythms® Teacher who was also trained in the Heartbeat (emotional) map by Gabrielle Roth.
