​Happy New Year!

I am curious as to what changes 2023 will bring as we plan our coming year. Before I highlight some of what’s being planned, I want to take a moment here to thank all who made contributions in 2022—whether as cash donations, sharing your beautiful dances and stories, greeting people at the door and setting an altar at SDP events, clearing the space, and encouraging people to subscribe to our newsletter. You make it possible for us to bring positive change to underserved communities.

You also contribute when you attend an SDP event. 

We open the year with our first Sweat Your Prayers (SYP) event on Sunday, January 8th. If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, we’d love for you to join us. Normally, this class is held on the 2nd Saturday of the month. We will resume the regular SYP schedule on the 2nd Saturday in February.  

Mid-January we’re headed to Maui for a Medicine Circle workshop with the essence of the island. In February, we hold a Medicine Circle in Tucson, Arizona, and in April-May, we’ll be in Australia for a Medicine Circle workshop and Heartbeat event.

We are excited to hold our Sound Healing Wave Benefit in person on January 29th, and in February, our virtual Shamanic Journey and Movement will restart.

Our outreach work continues in 2023 with Bodies in Motion for seniors on zoom in February, and we have a new class in collaboration with Carmelita, a residential program for women previously incarcerated and dealing with past trauma. We have added a class for the blind in our work with the VA.

We hope to celebrate many positive changes with you this year and fully embrace becoming different in 2023.
