The Sufis believed that the whole point of life was to engage with the imaginal world because, without that, one could not really engage with the deepest levels of reality. Shapeshifting is a way that people can become fully in tune with their natural instincts, bonding them with an animal they most identify with. It deepens the bond between us and the natural world. Traditionally, shapeshifters are healers and elders who transform into different animals to heal and protect the community. In modern times, with practice, we can shapeshift by letting go of our ego and form and shaping into the qualities that we want to cultivate. We call on the animals that can help us with this process. Shapeshifting is mostly done through ritual and dance to free our mind, heart, and soul. It brings forth a deeper connection to our ancestors and all living beings. It gives us a wider world perspective, allows us to understand others, and deepens our love and compassion. It is also a pathway to learn about ourselves as we move through our life’s journey. There are still some spots if you’d like to join me this weekend for a journey of dance and ritual as we Shapeshift deeper into ourselves and bring healing into the world.
