From February 28 - March 28, the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women in the Greater Bay Area team will host the "Healthy Hearts/Healthy Habits Challenge." AHA Woman of Impact nominee and challenge lead Ginaville Villanueva has assembled a team of extraordinary individuals to champion this great cause. Syzygy Dance Project's founder and teacher, Sylvie Minot will be teaching a 5Rhythms class. Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer of women. Go Red for Women is committed to raising funds and bringing awareness towards research, education, and community programs to change that statistic. It’s a critical time for all women. Because of the global pandemic, stress levels are up, motivation to get moving has gone down, and in some ways, we are still isolated from each other. That’s why Ginaville created this 30-day challenge: to get people motivated and moving for a good cause and build community. For four weeks, participants will aim to do at least 150 minutes of activity per week (per AHA’s recommended guidelines), for a total of 600 minutes over the course of the campaign. Choose from a variety of activities to build a better, more active heart. Aerobic workouts, mindfulness exercises, and stress-releasing activities are all available. Or you can choose your own activity and have it count. As an alternative, you can take the Healthy Habits Challenge, where you perform a daily 5-minute action for four weeks to create a new healthy habit. The Go Red for Women in the Greater Bay Area community goal is to hit 115,200 minutes of activity – which is the same number of times our hearts beat on average in one day. Join the Go Red for Women community and better yet, bring your own! Create a team for this challenge and work together to build those healthy hearts and habits. Together we can get ourselves moving, create better habits, and strengthen our community. In 2004, Go Red For Women was born to raise awareness about their greatest health threat — heart disease. Slowly, this February campaign grew into a movement bringing together thousands of women. Go Red for Women provides a platform for women and their families to lead healthier lives.
Syzygy Dance Project is a proud supporter of the Go Red for Women initiative. You, too, can be a part of the Go Red for Women Movement. Join a sisterhood of passionate women united by a common goal: ending cardiovascular diseases, women's leading cause of death. Comments are closed.
