![]() Join us this Saturday for our second in-person Sweat Your Prayers class at Hidden City Ballroom in Richmond, California. I am excited that February's class can be held again in person. We have learned to adjust to the uncertainty of hosting events during a global pandemic for almost two years now, and January was no different when we had to shift from in-person to Zoom. The beautiful dance space at Hidden City Ballroom has a side room that allows participants to remove their masks if they need a breathing break. Because we are still adhering to the state and county indoor mandates, attendees must wear masks and provide proof of vaccination. We are testing a hybrid model of the Saturday classes to offer a virtual connection for those of you who can't attend in person and would like to join us. We will have more information about the availability of adding a Zoom class connection in an upcoming newsletter. This week, I invite you to let yourself "be danced," whether it's on a dance floor, in your living room, in your kitchen, or waiting in line at the grocery store. Movement helps us tap into our mind-body connection and awaken an inner source of vibrancy. “Any part of your body may lead you into ecstasy—your hands, your hips. When you are lost in the dance, the beat will call to different parts of, and if you have trained yourself to listen and follow your body parts, you will hear, and you will follow, and you will be danced.” - Gabrielle Roth - Sweat Your Prayers With love, Sylvie and the SDP Team In Sylvie Minot’s Saturday morning 5Rhythms Sweat Your Prayers™ class, you will be led on a journey of self-discovery as participants come together in community. The class is made up of two waves. The first wave is your time to arrive, let go of your day and settle into your body. During the second wave, we dance more deeply and explore a specific theme. The 5Rhythms™ is a simple meditative movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in every physical body regardless of shape, size, age, or experience. While the practice itself is simple, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression. The primary teaching of this work is: If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself. The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. They come together to create a wave. There are no steps to follow. Each rhythm has a different energy and tempo in which we tap into the wisdom of our bodies, bring awareness to the patterns in ourselves and our lives, and find our own individual expression. Sweat Your Prayers™ is done with minimal guidance or silence from Sylvie Minot. The movement is meant as a moving meditation.
