During this week of Thanksgiving here at Syzygy Dance Project, we thought it would be fitting to share with you what we've been up to this year. And also THANK YOU for believing in us and the Syzygy Dance Project. SDP is evolving, and this wouldn't be possible without the incredible support of our community. For your convenience, below is a snapshot of our recent news. Scroll down to see more information as well as photos.
1. Seniors in Motion class at CPMC We have started our new class for the Acute Care for the Elderly Unit at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. The patients are loving it, sometimes dancing with us in a group and occasionally dancing with us one-on-one at their bedside! 2. Arts in Corrections Conference In June, SDP's co-founder and executive director, Sylvie Minot attended Arts in Corrections, a 5-day conference for organizations and individuals bringing the arts into state prisons. Sylvie was invited to speak on a panel as well as lead a master class for conference-goers. 3. TheatreWorkers Project Training After meeting Sylvie at the Arts in Corrections conference, TheatreWorkers Project founder Susie Tanner requested a training for her staff. Equipped with new exercises and skills, they can now bring even more movement to their theatre classes for underserved communities! 4. Classes for CIIS & American Heart Association For the fourth year, we led a movement training for somatic psychology interns at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. We also held our second class for American Heart Association's BetterU program, a 10-week series supporting the well-being of female healthcare workers. 5. SDP's 15-Year Anniversary Fundraiser Sylvie Minot's weekly 5Rhythms Journey Beyond class turned 15 in August, so we went all out. Our fundraiser dance was a phenomenal gathering of love and support, helping us raise nearly $4,000 for SDP! Special thanks to those who donated raffle prizes and to John Fraine and Vlad Cardema for playing drums and didgeridoo. 6. Iron Springs Pub Fundraiser Iron Springs Give Back Tuesdays® support local non-profits, and Syzygy Dance Project was selected as a recipient. We had a great turnout on August 13th; our party alone took up 6-7 tables. We are grateful for our generous community! Here’s to another year of giving thanks for all of the wonderful blessings Syzygy Dance Project has experienced.
With love, Sylvie and the SDP Team Comments are closed.
