In February, we welcome the energy of the Year of the Dragon. The Dragon, a symbol of strength, teaches us that power is a skill to be shared, not brandished as a weapon. Join us for our monthly Sweat Your Prayers class on Chinese New Year, February 10th, where our movements will echo the energy of the Dragon. Come immerse yourself in dance, inviting exploration of the gentle power within, and share it with the supportive community of dancers around you. Let the rhythm of the Dragon guide us towards a year of collective strength and unity. Sweat Your Prayers Sweat Your Prayers™ is a movement practice and dance meditation created by 5Rhythms founder Gabrielle Roth. She developed the practice as part of the larger movement philosophy known as the 5Rhythms. The 5Rhythms is a dynamic movement practice that explores five different rhythms—Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness—as a way to unlock creativity, release energy, and promote self-awareness. In Sweat Your Prayers™ through the physicality of dancing and moving your body, you can engage in a form of embodied prayer or meditation. It's a way to connect with your deeper self, release pent-up energy or emotions, and experience a sense of freedom and authenticity through movement. The practice is inclusive and accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities. It has been embraced by a diverse range of individuals seeking a holistic approach to self-discovery and personal growth. Classes are conducted in a supportive and non-judgmental environment, encouraging participants to explore and express themselves through movement. There are no prescribed steps; instead, tap into your body's wisdom, bringing awareness to patterns within yourself and discovering your unique expression. Sylvie Minot guides the class in silence, offering you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the experience of dancing as a movement meditation. Secure Your Spot We highly recommend pre-registering to secure your place in this welcoming class, as space is limited, and classes often reach capacity quickly. We adhere to Contra Costa County community health guidelines for public events. There is a side dance room available for those who want to dance away from the main ballroom and group.
