The autumn equinox is when night and day are equal, and the moon embraces the sun. It is a time of balance between light and darkness. Fall equinox also welcomes the arrival of Libra, the sign of the scales. During this shifting cycle, the natural rhythms of the universe powerfully push us to consider how we balance our own light and dark shadows. The equinox invites us to welcome the increasing darkness as we begin another seasonal cycle of life. Turning our focus inward and shifting our energies to the changing season, we can feel the hibernation period drawing near. To embrace the darkness in preparation for less daylight activity is a reminder to use this time before the December winter solstice to let go of what we no longer need to carry with us into a new year--the time of a new growth cycle. Letting go can prove challenging, which is one of the many reasons we make time to move to music. To dance with our own internal darkness helps us release its negative aspects, such as pent-up anger, resentment, and the old stories we hold onto that no longer reflect who we really are, or wish to become. At our regular dance practices, the music promotes a balance between the mind and the body's movements. We embrace the polarity between our light and dark sides in acceptance of our whole being. We release and let go, ready to accept whatever change is coming. Come join us in dance during this season of balance in preparation for the coming year. Fall 5Rhythms Sweat Your Prayers Classes
