As we move this week into December, the Moon is in retreat from the sun's illumination. This waning lunar period signals a time for you to connect with the rhythm of your body's harmonic vibration. Just like the ocean tides, the energy of the Moon's gravitational pull combined with the fading light from the sun affects our life flow. 2020 has been a tremendously challenging year for many of you, and your life turned upside down. You have resisted; you have fought; you have surrendered, and you created new unimaginable things. The waning Moon is a time to recharge and prepare for anything positive that's coming. As this year comes to an end--much like the waning Moon--how do you return to yourself and welcome the new? I invite you to welcome each of the body parts back as you move about. Make space for your soul to land and embrace the light of the Moon that will bring your spirit home. We all shine on...like the moon and the stars and the sun...we all shine on...come on and on and on.― John Lennon With love, Sylvie Minot SYLVIE MINOT'S 5RHYTHMS5Rhythms is a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in every body regardless of shape, size, age, or experience. While the dance itself is simple, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression. The primary teaching of this work is: If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself. The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. They come together to create a wave. There are no dance steps to follow. Each rhythm has a different energy and tempo in which you tap into the wisdom of your body, bring awareness to the patterns in yourself and your life, and find your individual expression. In Sylvie Minot’s 5Rhythms classes, you are led on a journey of self-discovery as we come together in community. The classes are typically made up of two waves. The first wave is your time to arrive, let go of your day and settle into your body. During the second wave, you dance more deeply and explore a specific theme. Any level of fitness, agility and ages are invited to participate. All are welcome and no prior dance training or ability is required. ABOUT SYLVIE MINOTSylvie Minot received her BA in Dance from San Jose State University and a Master's Degree in Theology in Spirituality and Holistic Health.
