Please join Sylvie for our weekly Wednesday 5Rhythms class on Zoom from 7:30 - 9 pm PST.
This week, we will be concluding our series with the dance of Healing. One of the definitions of healing is "the process of becoming whole again."
Being in a "process" is a continuous, not an instantaneous event. How do we become whole again? How do I call back pieces of myself that I’ve lost along the way?
As we navigate these times, so much healing is required of us for ourselves, for each other, for the systemic dis-ease that continually affects us. As I look at ourselves, do we know what we’re looking at, what we are looking for? Are we looking at the things we did right, the things we did wrong, or can we see the whole picture. Are we still internally enough to let the healing begin? Moving in stillness is the practice of calling our Spirit back from the place that scared us, angered us, harmed us. When we experience the rhythm of stillness, we open the pathway to healing by connecting our mind, body, and emotions to Spirit through movement. In calling back our Spirit, we must create space inside ourselves that is welcoming and nurturing. Healing is embracing what is most feared; healing is opening what has been closed, softening what has hardened into obstruction, healing is learning to trust life. - Jeanne Achterberg With love, Sylvie and the SDP Team PS. The 5Rhythms is a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in everybody regardless of shape, size, age, or experience. While the practice itself is simple, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression.
The primary teaching of this work is: If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself. The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. They come together to create a wave. There are no dance steps to follow. Each rhythm has a different energy and tempo in which we tap into the wisdom of our bodies, bring awareness to the patterns in ourselves and our lives, and find our own individual expression. In Sylvie Minot’s weekly online class, you will be led on a journey of self-discovery as we come together in community. The class is made up of two waves. The first wave is your time to arrive, let go of your day and settle into your body. During the second wave, we dance more deeply and explore a specific theme. Any level of fitness, agility and ages are invited to participate. All are welcome and no prior dance training or ability is required.
