The Beltane Fire Festival is a celebration deeply rooted in ancient Celtic traditions. It marks the halfway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice, from May 1st through the 5th. Fire serves as a beacon of hope amidst the darkness, a reminder that renewal and resilience are possible even in the face of adversity. Beltane is not just a celebration—it's a call to embrace the beauty of the natural world and honor the intricate dance of life that sustains us all. It's a time to let go of the past, embrace the present moment, and welcome the bright possibilities of the future. Beltane reminds us of our shared humanity and interconnectedness with the natural world when the world seems fractured and divided. As long as there is hope, change, and transformation are always possible. Speaking of transformation ... We had a wonderful Ancestors workshop in Toronto. What a beautiful tribe. I have always loved working with ancestors because it allows us to reconnect with our lineage and all the ancestors around us, our friends, animal allies, the land, and the natural world. Dancing with the ancestors brings healing to the past, present, and future generations. I was also able to facilitate several individual sessions while on the road. In my individual/one-on-one sessions, we start with checking in to set the intention, followed by a drum wash. Dance is used as a way to see what the body is holding. I guide the participant with different imagery to connect different body parts to reveal what’s being held. We then connect the body parts with the parts of the self stuck in a pattern that is no longer useful or a vulnerable part that hasn't had space to come out. We give it space and voice, allowing it to move. These sessions are on Zoom or in person, depending on the location. As I land back in the Bay Area from my travels, I look forward to our May Sweat Your Prayers class on the 11th and working individually with our local tribe. I hope to dance with you soon. With love, Sylvie and the SDP Team P.S. Our online Shamanic Journey and Movement series will start in summer instead of spring. We will keep you posted on the dates in upcoming emails.
