Sweat Your Prayers September 16

9/14/2020

5Rhythms Sweat Your Prayers

“The Wave is a spiritual practice, so start off with a prayer. Then offer each of your body parts to the dance.” Gabrielle Roth, Sweat Your Prayers Founder.

We invite you to Sweat Your Prayers® and offer yourself to the rhythm as if you are a gift to the divine.

We spend so much time asking, and wanting. Let’s attune and listen.

Dance away our fingers and toes; our heart and mind. Let go of the self and disappear into the rhythms.

Dissolve the personal, the ego, and the need to control into the beat. It is in the disappearing that we find ourselves. It is in the act of loving that we give wholeheartedly.

This week, let us dance, let us sweat, and let us, love.

With love,

Sylvie and the SDP Team

PS. No dance experience needed! Beginners are always welcome!

ABOUT SYLVIE MINOT'S 5RHYTHMS CLASS

Sylvie Minot Sweat Your Prayers

Sweat Your Prayers® is a dance where participants bring  move through all the of the 5Rhythms of Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness with an intention. As 5Rhythm's founder Gabrielle Roth said, "To sweat is to pray, to make an offering of your innermost self."

5Rhythms is a simple movement practice designed to release the dancer that lives in every body regardless of shape, size, age, or experience. While the dance itself is simple, it has the power to catalyze deep healing and creative expression.

The primary teaching of this work is: If you put your psyche in motion, it will heal itself.

The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. They come together to create a wave. There are no dance steps to follow. Each rhythm has a different energy and tempo in which we tap into the wisdom of our bodies, bring awareness to the patterns in ourselves and our lives, and find our own individual expression.

In Sylvie Minot’s weekly online 5Rhythms class, you will be led on a journey of self-discovery as we come together in community. The class is made up of two waves. The first wave is your time to arrive, let go of your day and settle into your body. During the second wave, we dance more deeply and explore a specific theme.

Any level of fitness, agility and ages are invited to participate. All are welcome and no prior dance training or ability is required.
